Craig Bicknell, manager of Molten Spartan South Midlands League club Ampthill Town, said he is “over the moon” with….
….his team’s draw in the Fourth Round of the FA Carlsberg Vase, believing next month’s tie with Enfield 1893 is a “winnable” match.
Bicknell’s side equalled the club’s best ever performance in the competition by winning their Third Round tie with Hertford Town last Saturday.
Warren Garcia scored the only goal of the game to set up a clash with the Essex Senior League team who conquered another SSML outfit, Dunstable Town, last Saturday.
“I’m over the moon with the draw,” said Bicknell. “It could have been worse as there are some teams facing a 900-mile round trip. We are playing a good side but it’s a winnable game.”
Bicknell will leave no stone unturned in his preparation for the game on January 19th.
Bicknell, who is in his second season with the club, will watch his opponents in action and speak to the manager of Dunstable to get the lowdown.
“This competition has really put us on the map,” said Bicknell whose team knocked out former winner Diss Town in the Second Round. “We are being talked about now and people will be fearing us.”
