Calor League Southern Division One Central club Chertsey Town have signed highly-rated Ryan Blake.
A full-back, Blake came through the ranks at Brentford and was awarded a squad number at the beginning of the 2009/10 season.
He had to wait until near the end of that campaign to make his debut, coming on as a substitute against Yeovil.
Already involved in the Northern Ireland under-19 squad, Blake made his under-21 debut as a late substitute against San Marino in September 2010.
After a number of loan spells away from Griffin Park, Blake was released at the end of the 2011/12 season.
Last season, 21-year-old Blake was playing at then Conference Premier side Ebbsfleet United where he made multiple first-team appearances. He also had spells at Farnborough, Hampton & Richmond Borough and Woking.
Chertsey assistant-manager Andy Smith has close links with Blake and asked him to come down to join what is becoming a very strong outfit and to begin enjoying his football again.
He trained with the squad last Thursday and thankfully he was impressed with the set up at the club`s new training ground and was pleased with the vision manager David Johnston has for the club.
Blake`s first match was on Saturday in the 4-0 win against a spirited Staines Town Academy side.
Also on show was also ex-Chertsey favourite Tom O’Regan, who has just been released by Skrill South side Farnborough.
Johnston said: “I am hoping Tom also signs as soon as possible so that we can finalise our squad with less than two weeks until the season starts.”
Meanwhile, influential winger Rob Carr has left Chertsey and signed for Fleet Town in the South & West division. He felt a new challenge was needed in a different league.
