Experienced and much-travelled midfielder Ollie Berquez has put pen-to-paper to sign for Ryman League Division One….

….North club AFC Sudbury and he has been cleared to play in the FA Trophy tie tomorrow.

The former Chelmsford City, Dagenham & Redbridge, Canvey Island, Stevenage Borough, Woking, Dartford and Maldon & Tiptree midfield general is a player that manager David Batch was after for some time.

Moving out of the club is young midfielder Payton Swatman on a one month loan deal to Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division side Kirkley & Pakefield.

Batch said: “Ollie is a class act on and off the pitch. He is a good leader who other players respect because he walks the walk and behaves like a senior player who has been at top professional and non-League clubs.

“Payton needs a good run of consecutive games under his belt. He is more consistent than he was last year but needs to go to the next level and this is a chance for him to find that confidence. Whilst he, like Tyler Kemp, who is on a one month loan at Haverhill Rovers, are continuing their development by playing regular football in the league below ours, it opens up the door for the progression of other younger players.

“The performances of Jack Guyton, Jordan Blackwell and Scott Kemp can now be rewarded with more game time at first-team level as we look to push them on too.”
