Marcus Newell wants the Cleethorpes supporters to really play their part in the club’s F.A Vase Semi Finals.

They may be outnumbered at Bromsgrove Sporting this afternoon at the Victoria Ground but they can make their voices heard, says their manager.

Then it’s their turn next week when they host the Midland Division One side in the second leg.

According to Sporting manager Paul Smith, Cleethorpes are big favourites to progress to Wembley.

Newell said of Bromsgrove that he “understands it will be tough” but added that their hosts today “won’t fancy playing us over two legs”.

He says their fans can really help as they look to return to Owen Street with an advantage.

“The supporters will be vital over the two games,” the manager said as the excitement really build about the Vase double header.

“The town is right behind us and hopefully we can get the job done, but it’s not going to be easy – whoever you play in a Semi deserves to be there and we know we are going to be in for two very demanding games.

“I am proud of the players for getting this far. It’s a great competition and we are desperate to make the final.”

Brody Robertson misses out through suspension but The Owls’ squad is strong and the manager knows they can cope with setbacks.

Sporting manager Smith said: “We know they are the favourites but we’ve got to give it our best shot.”
