Chippenham Town assistant boss Richard Fey saluted a well-earned point for his side after their draw at Chesham….

…..United in the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division on Boxing Day.

The Bluebirds battled through awful conditions in Buckinghamshire and Fey was delighted with the character shown by the players.

“It was a great performance and a great point, especially against a team that are supposed to be the big money-spenders after getting to the final of the play-offs last season,” said Fey, who himself was named on the bench with boss Nathan Rudge after illness ravaged the squad.

“The boys were all excellent. We had to play people in positions they’ve never played in before, with Tom Knighton, Lee Phillips and James Guthrie all down with viruses and sickness bugs.

“For team spirit and character-building, it was brilliant and a good point away from home.’’
Fey also revealed that the Bluebirds have made a seven-day approach for a new full-back, whom they hope to sign in time for their New Year’s Day derby with Frome Town at Hardenhuish Park.
