Hawkes-Eye Planning Stortford Escape

Mark Hawkes has been studying the Vanarama National League South fixture list… and he believes his team can pull off a great escape.

Bishop’s Stortford’s experienced manager watched his side beat St Albans City on Saturday.

That was their first win since January 21st and it came when Sam Ford found the net just after half-time.

Hawkes suggests that a win at Clarence Park can get their season back on track despite his team still being second from bottom of the table.

“We still think we can stay up,” he said. “That was a big result for us.

“We have a lot of games left against the teams down at the bottom and if we win those we give ourselves a great chance.”

They next face East Thurrock this weekend, a side still smarting from Saturday’s 6-0 defeat at then leaders Ebbsfleet.

“We have a lot of big matches coming come and we need to keep winning,” he said.
