Jody Brown, manager of Bostik League North club Heybridge Swifts, has signed former Barnet midfielder Ahmed Abdulla.

Brown made a move for Abdulla after his skipper Lewis Dark suffered a suspected broken foot.

Abdulla made twenty-eight appearances for Ware this season, scoring once from the penalty spot last month.

He is a central midfielder who was born in Saudi Arabia of Yemeni and Somali descent before moving to London at the age of eight.

After starting in the Arsenal youth set up, Abdulla moved to West Ham United and had spells with Swindon Town under Paolo Di Canio, and Dagenham & Redbridge before moving to Barnet.

His non-League career has seen him at Staines Town and Whitehawk from whom he was loaned to Metropolitan Police, the club Abdulla joined Ware from.
