Twenty-three-year-old defender Tom Allan has re-joined home-town club York City from Vanarama National League North rivals Alfreton Town.

A tall and commanding centre back, Allan began his career with York at the age of eight.

He went out on loan to Hucknall Town in 2011 and signed a professional contract in December 2012.

He went on to make ten League Two appearances for the Minstermen, before going on loan to Harrogate Town.

He was released from York in May 2014 and joined Gateshead for the 2014/15 season, making twenty-one appearances in all competitions for the Heed, scoring once.

Allan moved to Alfreton in July 2015 and he went on to make over 100 appearances for the Reds and also spent time out on loan with Tadcaster Albion in 2016/17.

Allan becomes York boss Martin Gray`s fifth new signing since the end of the 2017/18 season, joining Gateshead trio Russell Penn, Wes York and Jordan Burrow and Spennmoor Town`s Kallum Griffiths.
