Maine Road, relegated from the Hallmark Security League Premier Division, have announced that Matt Barnes has resigned from his position as first-team manager.
Barnes was appointed in November 2017.
The 31-year-old was no stranger to non-League football in the North West, having spent time at Salford City, Ramsbottom United, Atherton Collieries and Nelson during his playing career.
He was manager of Little Lever in the Lancashire Amateur League for around eighteen months, and prior to that was in charge at Walshaw Sports in the Manchester League.
Club secretary Derek Barber said: “We at Maine Road would like to thank Matt for his hard work and dedication over his short period of time at the club and his 100% effort to try and keep us in the Premier Division.
“We wish him every success for the future.”
Maine Road are accepting applications for the position of first-team manager. Interested candidates should send a CV and covering letter to Derek Barber at: firstname.lastname@example.org
I have took the decision to resign from my position as manager of @MaineRoadFC, for a couple of reasons but I wish the club all the best going forward and hopefully onwards to new chapters! Thanks to all the players and board!
