Vanarama National League club Barrow AFC have announced the signing of Lewis Walters on loan from SkyBet Championship side Nottingham Forest.

Walters, 22, plays as a forward or attacking midfielder or winger and has joined for a month initially.

Walters joined Forest from Leeds United in September 2016 and spent the 2016/17 campaign playing for the club’s under-23 side where he shone.

It was anticipated that he would make a breakthrough into the Forest first-team before an injury held him back.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post after Walters signed a new contract with Forest back in July, under-23 boss Jack Lester said: “He’s one of our older professionals. If he hadn’t got his hamstring injury, I think he’d have been in and around the first-team. We’ve got high hopes for him, he’s a bright lad.”

He goes into Barrow`s squad for Saturday`s game against Dagenham & Redbridge at the Furness Building Society Stadium when the team will be looking for a second home win under Ady Pennock after three away wins at Eastleigh, Gateshead and FC Halifax Town.
