Bostik League South club Herne Bay have made two new signings who will be involved today when they travel to leaders Lewes.
Bay have signed Aaron Akuruka and Merrick James-Lewis.
Akuruka is a powerful full-back who loves a tackle.
He came through Crystal Palace youth system and went on to earn a professional contract, turning out for the under-23 side.
Since leaving Selhurst Park in 2012 he has had spells with Barnet, Yeovil Town, Farnborough, Redhill and Bay`s league rivals Molesey.
The experienced and very well-travelled James-Lewis was an apprentice at Fulham before joining the Southend United youth system, earning a professional deal in 2010 and playing in the Football League for the Blues.
After loan spells with clubs including Braintree Town and Bishop’s Stortford he was released by Southend and signed for Colchester United.
He has since played for a host of clubs including Ebbsfleet United, Farnborough Town, Staines Town, Grays Athletic, Merstham, Tooting & Mitcham United, Canvey Island, Thamesmead Town, Hendon and Walton Casuals.
