AFC Portchester have announced that Mick Catlin has joined the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier club.

Catlin will be the installed as the joint-manager alongside Ian Saunders.

Former Winchester City boss Saunders took over in August in place of ex-Arsenal and England star Graham Rix, who left the club by mutual consent.

Saunders, appointed as Rix’s right-hand man in March, took over the running of the side towards the end of last season when Rix took time out following a heart attack.

Rix had been at the Royals’ helm since being appointed head coach in February 2013.

Catlin was in charge of Evo-Stik League South Premier side Gosport Borough until last month.

He had only been back at Privett Park since October, having previously left in January of this year.

He had previous spells at Privett Park as assistant-manager to both Alex Pike and John Robson and is also a former player.

He has also been in charge at Andover, Wick, Fleet Town, and Chichester City.
