Coalville Boss Disappointed As They Can’t Catch The Gingerbread Men

Coalville Town manager Tommy Brookbanks was disappointed with his side’s 2-1 defeat to Grantham Town in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division last night.

The Gingerbread men lead through Luther Wildin before Danny Jenno equalised for the hosts just after the interval.

But it was all in vain as Jeremiah Dasaolu won it for the promotion-chasing side with 25 minutes left to play.

The Ravens were reduced to 10 men after having Massiah McDonald sent off in the first half.

After the game, the former Quorn manager was gutted with his side’s defeat.

He said: “They (Grantham) are a very good side. I thought we lost the match in the first half never mind the red card.

“I can’t comment on that as I thought it was a bad decision, but until I watch the video back I can’t comment as it will be unfair to criticise the referee.

“I think for the first time in a few weeks we didn’t get out of the blocks quick enough and against a good side like Grantham Town, you have got to.

“It took us until half time to get it through to them. It’s a shame really as they put in a good effort second half.”

The equaliser for the Leicestershire side came from a free kick which was one that David Beckham would have been proud of scoring.

Despite losing the match, the Coalville manager was pleased with the lad’s work rate in the second half.

He said: “It was a fantastic goal.

“The one thing we have got in there is we have got a good dressing room, you always say you have a good dressing room when you are winning.

“But we haven’t won every game this year, but its right up there you can see it with the effort they have put in, and  that they believe in the football club and us as managers.”

Grantham Town sit just two points off the playoffs with just a few weeks to go until the end of the season.

The former Stamford boss praised the visitors for their work rate shown at the Owen Street Sports Ground.

He told the clubs’ Audioboom account: “Grantham are a lively side.

“You can see why they are where they are in the league table and they deserve to be where they are in the league and its something we can improve on. But it’s our first season up in this division.

“We have already earmarked where we need to be better on next season already and the areas we need to improve on.”
