Evo-Stik League Premier club Nantwich Town have signed defender Jake Phillips from Welsh Premier side Llandudno.

Phillips re-joined Llandudno in August from Vanarama National League South side Welling United.

The versatile Liverpool-born defender had been with the Wings after a spell with SkyBet Championship outfit Sheffield United.

After being released by The Blades and having a short spell with Fleetwood Town, he signed for Brackley Town who he helped avoid relegation from the Conference (National League) North.

He spent the pre-season of 2016 with Nottingham Forest but with the club going through new management, new faces where brought in and Phillips was not offered a deal. He then spent a lot of the first part of the season training with National League clubs such as Bromley and Braintree Town, he then decided to sign for Margate after offers from other National League South sides. He played at centre-back and as a holding midfielder for Margate but due to financial reasons he left the club and went and signed for then-fellow National League South side Welling United.

In pre-season of 2017, he trained with various teams from National League to the Welsh Premier after which he signed for Llandudno.

Phillips was part of Llandudno’s Huws Gray Alliance title-winning side in 2015 before being handed an opportunity at the Blades, and can play anywhere across the back four.
