Former Player Of The Year Returns

West Didsbury & Chorlton have confirmed that former player of the year Matt Eckersley, 29, has returned to the Hallmark Security League Premier Division club following a spell in the JD Welsh Premier.

Twenty-nine-year-old Eckersley had two previous spells at West, first in the Manchester League, with his most recent spell during manager Steve Settle’s first season in charge in 2015/16 as he helped guide West to their best-ever finish before collecting the players player of the year award.

Eckerlsey made forty-two appearances in his eighteen months at Cefn Druids scoring once before his return to Brookburn Road.

In addition, Settle has confirmed the capture of defender Lanre Olapade on dual registration with Evo-Stik League Premier side Ashton United.

Olapade, 21, is a central defender who has previously spent time at amongst Manchester City’s junior ranks before spells at Cowlyn Bay, Ramsbottom United and Mossley AFC.

Both players will go into Settle’s thinking ahead of tonight’s match at home to City of Liverpool.
