Vanarama National League North club Harrogate Town have secured the signature of John McCombe on a permanent deal until the end of the season.

The vastly experienced central defender brings experience to the Town dressing room having made over 300 appearances in his career, the majority coming for Port Vale.

McCombe was named Chester FC club captain at the beginning of the current campaign and has made twenty-three appearances for the side in the National League.

Town’s newest arrival started his career at Huddersfield Town but has gone on to play for York City and Macclesfield Town in recent years.

His move comes swiftly after it was announced he was to leave the Swansway Chester Stadium.
