Goalkeeper Matt Coton has left Evo-Stik League Premier club Coalville Town following discussions with the management team.
Following a recent promotion at work, Coton is unable to commit the time required to play at Step 3 level.
He was initially signed by then-Coalville boss Adam Stevens as cover for Sean Bowles. He spent the first two and half seasons at the club on the bench and only made sporadic appearances.
In September 2016 Bowles suffered an injury and Coton stepped in and preformed superbly and when Bowles was fit again, Coton retained his place.
He continued as number one this season and has racked up over 100 appearances for the club during that time earning a reputation as a formidable shot-stopper.
Manager Tommy Brookbanks told the club`s official Pitchero website: “We are sorry to see Matt go but understand the reasons behind it. He has been a brilliant servant for Coalville and we wish him well for the future. Not only is he a good player but he’s a great person as well. This now gives Elliott Taylor, who is on loan from Nuneaton Town, an opportunity to show what he can do”.
After 4 years at @CoalvilleTownFC I have decided to move on due to work commitments.
Thank you to everyone for making my time so enjoyable. I cannot speak highly enough of you all. A proper club that I cannot fault.
Good luck for the rest of the season & enjoy the cup final!
