Egham Town have announced that there is a new man in the manager’s chair at the Evo-Stik League South East club.
Simon Lane has been appointed after the club parted company with Chris Moore.
Lane has joined the Sarnies having only just seen his former team, Northwood, draw 2-2 last Saturday with the Runnymede Stadium outfit.
Lane is a vastly experienced coach and manager. After a playing career with the likes of Yeovil Town, Woking, Bath City, Hayes and Aylesbury United cut short by injury, he took to coaching from an early age and has held an UEFA A licence since 1998 when he was also club coach at Leighton Town.
He became the youngest head coach in European football when given the opportunity to take charge of Maltese side Naxxar Lions and then had his first non-League managerial role with Berkhamsted Town in 2003.
After a successful spell as Windsor & Eton boss, Lane then spent three years as first-team coach at Conference (National League) South Maidenhead United alongside Johnson Hippolyte.
In 2015, Lane was appointed as manager and director of football at Wingate & Finchley in the Bostik Premier and enjoyed considerable success before departing the Summers Lane outfit in January 2016.
He was appointed as Northwood’s manager in May 2017.
The new manager’s first match in charge will be at Bedford Town tomorrow.
