Evo-Stik League South East club Aylesbury FC have moved to quash rumours of a merger or groundshare arrangement with league rivals and neighbours Aylesbury United.

The Ducks are currently playing at Evo-Stik League South Premier outfit Chesham United`s ground at The Meadow, but the Moles issued the following statement in light of recent speculation regarding a possible groundshare at Haywood Way or merger between the two clubs: “A preliminary meeting did take place between officials of both clubs regarding a possible groundshare and any further steps.

“Following this meeting the committee of Aylesbury FC took the decision that we would not take these discussions any further.

“As a committee it is our duty to do what we consider is in the best interests of the club, and on this occasion, it was our decision that it would not be beneficial to the club to enter into a groundshare or anything else, the primary consideration being the under-18s which we would have had to discard.

“As a committee it is our job to explore every opportunity to ensure the progression of the club and in this case, we do not believe that this option would help the club achieve its targets, now or in the foreseeable future”.
