Now Rooney Joins Ambitious Billericay

Bostik League Premier leaders Billericay Town have announced the signing of winger Luke Rooney.

Rooney joins from Phoenix Rising – Arizona’s only professional soccer franchise – where he played alongside ex-Chelsea star Dider Drogba in the United Soccer League – the second tier of US football.

Twenty-seven-year-old Rooney progressed through the youth system at Gillingham going on to make over fifty senior appearances for the Kent club.

He transferred to Swindon Town for a six-figure fee in January 2012 and played thirty-one times for the Robins.

He went on to play for Maidstone United, Luton Town and Ebbsfleet United in the Vanarama National League before returning to the League with Crawley Town in June 2015.

He moved to the States in 2016.
