O`Connell Continues Injury Comeback With South Normanton

Tommy Leighton, manager of Midland League Premier Division club South Normanton Athletic, has brought in forward Kieran O`Connell from Evo-Stik League South side Belper Town.

O`Connell has been a prolific goalscorer who has played for a number of East Midlands clubs, but his football career has been severely blighted by a serious knee injury sustained in a pre-season game for Gresley FC in July 2015 which kept him out of the game for almost two seasons.

He had signed for Gresley at the start of the 2013/14 season, winning the player of the year award the following season.

O`Connell previously played for Stafford Rangers, Mickleover Sports and Ilkeston FC before joining the Moatmen.

He has featured for Graham Street Prims, Borrowash Victoria and Rocester on his comeback trail and joined the Nailers for the current campaign as he finally shrugs off the shackles of his knee injury.
