Poppies Bring In New Midfielder

Evo-Stik League South Premier club Kettering Town have signed 22-year-old midfielder Alex Metcalfe.

He joins the Poppies having played for Australian National Premier League 2 outfit Langwarrin SC.

Comfortable in the centre of the park or out on the left, Metcalfe has also been with Evo-Stik League North sides Scarborough Athletic, Ossett Albion and Ossett Town, current Toolstation Northern Counties East Leaguers Harrogate Railway Athletic, where he won the young player of the year award, and Vanarama National League North Harrogate Town.

Metcalfe goes straight into the squad for tomorrow’s fixture at Tiverton Town.

Also signing on forms is defender Callum Willimont.

A former Peterborough United academy player, he originally joined Kettering last season playing in the Poppies Educational side before a stint with ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League side Bugbrooke St Michael.
