Carshalton Athletic’s promotion hopes have been hampered after they were officially deducted three points.

Ryman South Athletic have had the news that their appeal against the charge of playing an ineligible player against Herne Bay back in October has failed.

That means their hopes of making the playoffs have taken a huge knock.

“In March the club was the subject of a 3-point deduction by the Ryman League for playing an ineligible player in the Herne Bay fixture of the 4th October 2016,” the club statement said.

“We appealed to the FA against the decision but today the appeal was dismissed, we will therefore have three points removed from our total.

“As a result of the deduction Chris Blanchard tendered his resignation as club secretary, we are hoping that Chris will change his mind and continue his good work as club secretary, he knows that he has everyone’s support.”

But the club did report some more positive news.

Chairman Paul Dipre confirmed first team manager Peter Adeniyi has agreed terms for next season and will be staying at the club.

Dipre said: “We were all a bit down about not quite reaching our promotion ambition, but I am pleased with the team’s progress. I am confident that both Peter and the team will learn from the experience.”
