Ebac Northern League First Division club West Auckland Town have announced the signing of former Whitby Town skipper Steven Snaith.

Snaith opted to leave the Evo-Stik League Premier side after the expiry of his contract with the Seasiders.

The midfielder, who made 223 appearances for Whitby over two spells, departs after almost two years at the club this time around.

As well as the Seasiders, the 24-year-old has also served Hartlepool United and Guisborough Town and been on loan with Workington AFC

Whitby stated that the move came as a major disappointment to them and they did absolutely everything in their power to keep the player at the Turnbull Ground, with manager Chris Hardy seeing him playing a pivotal role going into the new campaign.
