North Shields have announced the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Matty Cornish from Ebac Northern League First Division rivals Whitley Bay ahead of the deadline.

Cornish, who is eligible to face his former club tomorrow, has scored 6 goals in thirty-nine games this season, although many of those appearances have come from the bench.

North Shields manager Marc Nash told his club`s website: “Matty is a player we admire having signed him from Newcastle Benfield in the summer. It’s no surprise that some of Whitley’s best performances this season have come when Matty has played well. He has great ability and we are delighted to have him on board!”
