Former Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday, Nottingham Forest, Barnsley and Coventry City striker Marcus Tudgay missed out on making a dream derby debut for Sutton Coldfield Town in the Evo-Stik League Premier on Saturday.
After spending the last three seasons at Coventry, the 34-year-old was on the wrong side of a 3-0 derby day defeat at Hednesford Town’s Keys Park.
The forward, who made nearly 300 appearances in the Football League for Derby and Sheffield Wednesday before joining Forest in 2010, was unveiled on Saturday morning as one of three signings made by manager Richard Sneekes.
Assistant-manager Steve Hinks said: “It’s great news that we have been able to get Marcus on board with us after he left Coventry at the end of last season. He will bring a touch of class and experience to our side that will help others around him. Good luck to all three from everyone at Coles Lane.”
It’s been a busy 48 time for the Royals with two further signings.
Luis Morrison-Derbyshire joins the club on loan from Vanarama National League North side Alfreton Town and Myles Mason joins on `work experience` from SkyBet Championship side Preston North End.
Morrison-Derbyshire is a centre-back who also made news by appearing on the ITV show `Love Island`.
Mason is a young striker who is a second-year scholar with Preston.
