Vill Powell, manager of Brighouse Town, who will be playing in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League West next season, has completed a busy week by securing the versatile Rhys Jenkinson.

Jenkinson, who scored the winner as Town came back from 2-0 down to beat Radcliffe Borough 3-2 in November, becomes the seventh player to commit to the club for the coming season.

On committing for the 2018/19 season Jenkinson told the club`s Pitchero website: “I knew as soon as I joined Brighouse it was a good move because of the team spirit even with the league position we were in at that time.

“I couldn’t have got off to a better start with Vill putting faith in me to bring me on 2-0 down against Radcliffe Borough to go on to win 3-2 and score the winner.”

On his aims for next season Jenkinson added: “For next season my aim is to secure a place in the starting eleven and win as many games as possible. I am looking forward to getting back playing with the lads.”

Despite coming to the club in November, Jenkinson missed the end of the season through injury.

Comfortable playing at full-back, wing-back or out-and-out winger, Jenkinson is another strong signing for Brighouse and will be eager to cement his place in Powell’s XI.

Young goalkeeper George Clarke has also committed to Brighouse.

The young shot-stopper enjoyed an impressive run towards the end of the season which saw an upturn in the club`s results.

On his rise from the under-21s to the first-team Clarke said: “Being a local lad when I got the call up I was buzzing. I’ve had to grow as a player, but it’s definitely helped my development.”

On signing, Clarke gave his goals for the coming season: “The main goal is to keep the number one shirt. Other than that, I want to win while playing as well as I can week in week out.”

It’s been a phenomenal rise for Clarke after playing for the under-21s and the under-18s this season.

Under-21 coach Simon Ward was quick to heap praise on the young keeper: “George is a coaches` dream to work with. He has the right technical ability and physicality to make it at this level but most importantly his mentality has been second to none this season with him constantly driving his own development”.
