Bostik League Premier newcomers Dorking Wanderers have announced another high-profile signing following the arrival of David Ray from Evo-Stik League South Premier side Basingstoke Town.
Experienced and highly regarded in non-League circles, Ray has been brought in to add further strength to the Wanderers defence as they embark on their maiden season in the Bostik Premier.
Ray brings with him a wealth of experience, with a career to-date that has seen him notch up almost 400 games in two spells at Basingstoke, with stints at Carshalton Athletic and Farnborough in-between.
Manager Marc White is delighted to have secured a player of Ray’s pedigree. He told the club`s official website: “It’s no secret that I’ve been an admirer of David’s for several years now. He’s highly regarded in non-league football both in terms of ability and leadership, and was a stalwart in the Basingstoke defence for several years. It’s a sign of our progression that we have been able to convince David to join us, and I have no doubt that he will be a key player in our maiden season in the Bostik Premier League.”
Ray was also in a buoyant mood after signing for the Wanderers, and commented: “I’m delighted to be joining such a progressive club both on and off the field. I’ve heard great things about the club, and I’m excited to get started”.
