Blue Square Bet South strugglers Thurrock have turned to experience for an attacking boost, signing much-travelled duo…
….Bertie Brayley and Drewe Broughton.
Brayley, 30, has returned to Thurrock for a second spell at Ship Lane.
Brayley, who is a product of the West Ham youth scheme, had a short spell with Thurrock back in 2005.
He starred for West Ham in their 1999 FA Youth Cup win over Coventry City, scoring three goals over the two-legged final.
He has since played for the likes of Queens Park Rangers, Swindon Town, Canvey Island, AFC Hornchurch, Farnborough Town, Margate, Aldershot Town, Grays Athletic, Braintree Town, Chelmsford City, Bishop’s Stortford, Concord Rangers and Harlow Town.
Another experienced striker to join the Thurrock ranks is 32-year-old Drewe Broughton.
He was recently released by Conference Premier side Alfreton Town after playing only two games.
Signed in September, Broughton picked up a three-match ban on his debut and received a further four-match ban following a sending-off against Grimsby Town in his second match for the Reds.
Broughton had joined Alfreton as a free agent having left Lincoln City after their relegation from the Football League last season.
Broughton lists Norwich, Brentford, Peterborough, Kidderminster Harriers, Southend, MK Dons, Rushden & Diamonds, Rotherham and AFC Wimbledon amongst his former clubs.
