Blue Square Bet

....Manchester City in Altrincham's latest high-profile friendly on Saturday afternoon.
The Blue Square Bet North club launched their pre-season programme last Saturday against a Burnley side containing former Manchester United first-teamer Chris Eagles, Scotland striker Chris Iwelumo and two Northern Ireland internationals, in Martin Paterson and Michael Duff. It attracted a bumper 1,253 gate and was hailed by recently-appointed manager Lee Sinnott as the perfect start to his Alty reign.
If anything, Sinnott's second game in charge promises to be even more memorable, after it was confirmed that fiery Wales frontrunner Bellamy and England left-back Bridge will be among a twenty-three-strong City squad for the eagerly-awaited 3pm kick-off.
Bellamy, a £14m buy from West Ham in January, 2009, and Bridge, bought from Chelsea for £10m in the same month, were left behind, along with Emmanuel Adebayor and Shay Given, when City's senior squad left for a tour of America last weekend.
Adebayor, who is currently on unauthorised leave in Ghana, and Given, who is expected to sign for Aston Villa in the next few days, will not be involved at Moss Lane.
But while Adebayor evidently took exception to being instructed to train with the Elite Development Squad, and failed to turn up, Bellamy and Bridge have both knuckled down and been model professionals all week.
City's coaching staff had no hesitation in naming them for Moss Lane, in a move that is sure to send a buzz of anticipation through the ranks of Altrincham supporters, as well as increase the likelihood of a sizeable away following.
Brazilian striker Jo, former Sunderland loanee Nedum Onuoha and fit-again ex-England under-21 midfielder Michael Johnson are the other notable names in Andy Welsh's 23-man squad for a glamour fixture that offers admission of just £7 for adults and £2 for concessions.
