Cheshunt`s improvement in the Bostik League North under recently-appointed boss Craig Edwards continued on Tuesday night as they won 3-2 at one of his former clubs, Barking, and move five points clear of the drop zone.
The Ambers were rock-bottom when the vastly experienced Edwards made the switch from league rivals Ware, but Jason Hallett`s 26th goal of the season gave them a 7th minute lead at Mayesbrook Park.
Kiernan Hughes-Mason equalised on the half-hour mark, only for a Manny Olajide own goal to restore Cheshunt`s lead 9 minutes later.
Email Aiken made it 3-1 with 8 minutes of the second half played and, despite Tiob Adeyemi pulling a second back for the Blues 5 minutes from time, the Ambers held firm for a third win in four games.
The club Edwards left after a brief spell, Ware, are second-bottom after losing 2-0 at Wodson Park to another of the bottom five sides, Brentwood Town, who are now twentieth.
Town won, thanks to goals from Danny Dafter after 36 minutes and then sub Brad Hunter on 71 minutes – just 5 minutes after coming off the bench.
