....Division’s leading marksman Andrew Wood this summer.
Hall’s start to the 2011/12 campaign was ruined by an injury and subsequent departure to Bury Town of last season’s top scorer John Sands.
But as Wood prepares to test himself against Brantham Athletic’s Ollie Mann tomorrow — the league’s second top scorer with twenty-four goals — Appleford revealed his desire to keep twenty-six-goal Wood at the club.
“We don’t want to lose him,” said Hall’s chief.
“Hopefully we will hang on to him and realistically we should have him with us next season.”
Former Bury forward Wood has had the best season of his career so far, which continued on Saturday as he netted one and set the other up in Mildenhall’s 2-1 defeat of Woodbridge Town.
Speaking about the game, Appleford added: “We lacked a bit of sharpness and match fitness after the break, but we got the points on Saturday, whereas we’ve played a lot better this season and lost.”
