....FC Halifax Town win at Hucknall Town and second and third-placed Colwyn Bay and North Ferriby United also triumph.
Struggling Hucknall didn`t make it easy for the Shaymen at Watnall Road, however.
Lee Gregory gave the leaders a 14th minute lead that Fabien Smith cancelled out after 66 minutes.
And a draw looked on the cards, until Gregory – who used to ply his trade not too far away at Mansfield Town – popped up with his and Halifax`s second with less than 5 minutes remaining.
Bay had a much more comfortable afternoon at Llanellian Road against another struggler, Frickley Athletic.
Danny Grannon after 10 minutes, Fraser McLachlan after 23 and Alex Titchiner right on half time, gave the home side a comfortable lead that Rob Hopley added to on 57 minutes.
North Ferriby had a 54th minute Alex Davidson penalty to thank for their win at Hurst Cross against North Ferriby United, but Matlock Town were defeated 3-1 by fellow play-off contenders Bradford Park Avenue at the Horsfall Stadium.
The Gladiators got off to a great start too when top scorer Ross Hannah put them in front kess than 3 minutes in.
But Tom Greaves equalised 6 minutes later and then a brace of spot-kicks from Rob O`Brien in the 21st and 59th minutes sealed victory for Avenue to keep them in contention.
FC United of Manchester are a place and three points better off than Avenue, while Buxton, who the Reds shared a 2-2 draw with at Silverlands, are fourth and Marine sixth.
A tremendous crowd of 1,726 saw Kieran Lugsden, who scored twice for Buxton on Tuesday, repeat that by putting the home side 2-0 up by the 54th minute.
However, a Mike Norton double on 65 minutes and then right at the death clinched what could be a vital point for FC United.
Marine looked in trouble at struggling Nantwich Town, who led through on-loan Jordan Connerton`s goal right on half time until 7 minutes from the end when Adriano Rigoglioso finally pulled the Mariners back on terms. Kendal Town`s promotion hopes took a blow as they were beaten 2-1 by a resurgent Retford United, whose Jordan Turner bagged a brace in the 29th and 60th minutes – Shaun Gray replying 14 minutes from time.
Worksop Town defeated Mickleover Sports 1-0 in Derbyshire, courtesy of a 15th minute goal from the on-loan Luke Beckett, while Stocksbridge Park Steels quelled any lingering relegation fears with a 1-0 win at the Victoria Stadium against Northwich Victoria – Jack Muldoon the scorer in the 24th minute.
Strugglers Ossett Town managed a 1-0 win at Burscough, thanks to a 15th minute Daniel Sheriffe effort, and Chasetown drew 1-1 with Whitby Town in the day’s other game – Ben Jevons giving the Scholars a 9th minute lead that Kevin Burgess cancelled out on 66 minutes.
