Evo-Stik League South club Newcastle Town have announced they have parted company with manager Bob Askey by mutual consent.

This comes shortly after Newcastle fell by a single goal defeat to play-off chasing Stamford AFC at the Drayton Beaumont Stadium on Saturday.

Askey was appointed last summer having been director of football at West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division outfit Stone Old Alleynians last season.

Askey – brother of Macclesfield Town boss John – succeeded Scott Dundas.

The club have thanked him for all his efforts and professionalism since his appointment at the start of the current campaign.

Director of football Robin Van Der Laan will take over as first-team manager with immediate effect.
