....signing, bringing in 20-year-old centre back Sam Barnes from league rivals Marine AFC.
Barnes is a former Liverpool schoolboy who then went on to play for Stockport County in the 2009/10 season.
Both he and his brother Louis then went on trial at Manchester United before Sam then joined Northwich Victoria.
After a short spell at Vics, Barnes joined Marine where both he and his brother Louis have had an excellent season.
Barnes will be an ideal replacement for Cheyenne Dunkley, who signed for Blue Square Bet Premier side Kidderminster Harriers at the end of last week.
As Smith continues his overhaul of his playing squad for the new season, he has advised that he has reached agreement on terms with goalkeeper Dan Crane and the big stopper will be staying with the Pitmen for next season.
Crane has now made over 100 appearances for the club and has been an ever-present between the posts for the last two seasons, with the Pitmen reaching the end of season play-offs on both occasions.
