....North new boys Chester FC at Kellamergh Park on Sunday afternoon.
In a match involving last season`s First Division North champions and Premier Division title-winners, it was substitute Michael Barnes who struck the only goal of the game in the 74th minute for the Coasters to seal the win but it could have been a lot worse for the visitors.
New striker James Dean, had a 36th minute header ruled out for a foul on the keeper in the first half and Mike Galliers saw a chance cleared off the line late on.
The visitors created a number of chances of their own but never really tested new signing Ben Hinchliffe in the Fylde goal. (www.afcfylde.co.uk)
In Sunday`s other game, Combined Counties League club Guernsey FC strolled to a double-figure victory over Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West outfit Poole Town at Footes Lane.
However, before Dolphins fans become too disheartened, this was basically a reserve side that travelled to the Channel Island.
The Green Lions were 5-0 up by the half-time break, Dom Heaume’s hat-trick complementing strikes from Ross Allen and Ben Coulter - the latter on his first start for the club.
And the rout continued after the break with a host of new faces from the bench, Heaume and Coulter both adding another to their tallies, while Jason Winch, Dave Rihoy and debutant Nigel Hutton completed the scoring.
