Barwell, Hitchin and Hemel Remain 100%
Jamie Towers

.....matches of the Evo-Stik League Southern Premier Division season.

Barwell, a goal ahead at half-time through Paul Spacey, scored twice in time added on from Jamie Towers – his second of the game – and Scott Hadland to complete a 4-1 home win over Banbury United, for whom Adeyinka Talabi had scored to make it 2-1.

Hitchin raced into a two-goal lead in the opening 9 minutes through a Dan Delderfield brace on the way to a 3-2 win at St Neots Town.

Callum Stewart matched Delderfield in the 25th and 61st minute for the Saints, but Tony Fontanelle had already added a third for the Canaries in the 49th minute.

Hemel Hempstead, a Warren Byerley goal behind at the interval, also made it two wins out of two when two second half goals from David King and Matt Nolan gave them a 2-1 victory at Nene Park against Kettering Town.

Stourbridge gained a hard-fought point from a keenly-contested match at the New Windmill against Leamington.

The home side led through a Tom Berwick strike after 10 minutes, but the Glassboys battled back after the break and levelled when Nathan Bennett headed home a free-kick from Sean Geddes on 68 minutes.

Stourbridge came closest to snatching a winner when Luke Benbow's powerful shot rebounded from the bar after 75 minutes, but a draw was a fair reflection of the game as a whole.

St Albans City, two ahead at the break through Barry Hayes and Lewis Toomey, completed a 3-2 home win over Cambridge City when Toomey converted a 67th minute penalty. Lee Chaffey and Mitchell Bryant were the City scorers in the 54th and 73rd minute.

AFC Totton got their first point of the season when a late Ryan Hill free-kick snatched two points away from Chesham United.

Simon Thomas had given the Generals a 7th minute lead after a defensive error, but the away side had to settle for a point after Totton got their reward for a more dominant second half display.

Newly-promoted Bedworth United took an away point from a goalless draw at Redditch United, while Bashley completed a 2-1 home win over Frome Town in which Jamie Stokoe bagged a brace for the Hampshire outfit – Lewis Powell replying late on from the spot for Frome.

Gosport Borough scored a goal in each half from Jamie Brown and Justin Bennett to win 2-0 at Bideford.

Leon Hibbert and Drew Roberts both got on the score sheet to help secure Arlesey Town's first win and points of the season at Hitchin Road against neighbours Bedford Town.

Hibbert put his goal away after 15 minutes and ex-Eagle Roberts scored with a well-crafted free-kick 3 minutes after half-time.

Bedford pulled one back on 56 minutes when a misunderstanding in defence allowed Nick Beasant chip the ball over Nathan Abbey's Head.

Weymouth took a point from a 2-2 draw at Chippenham Town after going two down in the opening 14 minutes through Luke Ballinger and Lee Phillips.

Dan Smith pulled the first back in 34 minutes and Scott Walker equalised from the spot 3 minutes after half-time.
