Basford United dropped their first points of the 2017/18 Evo-Stik League South season after being held to a 1-1 draw at Greenwich Avenue by Chasetown on Monday night.
The deadlock was broken after 37 minutes when a James Reid corner was headed goalwards by Ben Hutchinson and blocked on the line, only for Ashley Grayson to scramble home the loose ball.
But a youthful Scholars side weren`t behind for long as they equalised in first half injury-time when a good run and shot from Will Whieldon ended with a shot that beat Saul Deeney in off the underside of the bar.
Both sides had their opportunities to win it in an entertaining, but ultimately goalless second period and a draw was probably just about right on the balance of play.
Monday`s other game saw nine-man Romulus lose for a fifth time in seven, this time a Coles Lane against Kidsgrove Athletic.
Despite taking an early 5th minute lead through Jordan Francis, Roms were down to ten-men early in the second half and went in 2-1 down, courtesy of Rhys Thompson after 27 minutes and an Anthony Malbon spot-kick 2 minutes later.
Romario Martin pulled the ten-men level on the hour-mark only for Jon Beaumont to restore the visitors` advantage on 65 minutes.
The Roms went down to nine-men before Kyle Diskin added Grove`s fourth goal 16 minutes from time.
