Bashir`s Team in Transition
Nas Bashir

Nasir Bashir has admitted Hayes & Yeading United are a team in transition as they stare down the barrel of relegation from the Blue Square Bet Premier.

Although mathematically still not doomed, Bashir’s side must win their last two games, pray Newport lose their next three, and hope for a seemingly impossible twenty-three-goal swing to secure safety.

And the United boss admits the post-mortem into his side’s season has already begun and praised the attitude of his team to keep fighting despite a plethora of off-the-field problems.

He said: “We’ve analysed the season and we’ve attacked every game to try and win. We’ve not gone into any game not wanting to win. We’re in this position, not through any fault of our own, it’s just the way we are. “You can look back over the season and say we could have done this or could have scored this, but we’ve been quite honest this year. We’ve given a true account of ourselves and we’ve just got to hope the results go for us.

“I’m not making any excuses. We’re in transition at the moment and our resources are a lot different to other clubs around us, with the ground, we haven’t got a reserve team, we’re part-time and we’ve had a lot of stumbling blocks.

“We’ve all been honest, the players, the staff, everyone in and around the club, and we just hope now that results go for us and we can win our next two games.”

United’s next task is to beat a Lincoln City on Saturday and hope that their rivals drop points once more to keep the dream alive.

Bashir added: “We’ve got suspensions, Dwane Lee is not available for the next couple of games which is a blow for us, but we’ll go into the game at Lincoln positive and looking to get the three points.

“We played them at Kingfield a couple of weeks ago and totally outplayed them but lost 2-1, so we won’t be going into that game thinking we can’t win because we know we can.

Bashir will also be without striker Aiden O’Brien who has returned to Millwall after his short-term loan period expired. The Lions front man failed to find the net during his time at Kingfield.
