Last season's top scorer in the STL Northern League First Division, Alex Benjamin, has signed for League Cup winners Newcastle Benfield.

Benjamin bagged thirty-nine league goals last season for Bedlington Terriers, and the season before that scored thirty for Ashington, Tow Law Town and Ryton, and now he has agreed to sign for Paul Baker's side.

Benfield have been looking for a striker since John Campbell quit for Darlington in the January 2011 transfer window.

Bedlington have replaced Benjamin by signing Steve Richardson, who was top league scorer for league champions Spennymoor Town last season.
