Big Crowd Sees Chester Maintain Big Lead

....emphatic victory over Droylsden at the Exacta Stadium in front of a bumper Boxing Day crowd of 2,934.

Wes Baynes gave the hosts the boost of an early 2nd minute lead that Anton Sarcevic doubled 18 minutes later.

Marc Williams increased Chester`s advantage 8 minutes before half-time and then second half goals from Ben Mills after 65 minutes and Chris Curran 13 minutes from time completed a 5-0 rout of the Bloods.

Guiseley AFC stay second after winning the Yorkshire derby at Nethermoor against fifth-placed Bradford Park Avenue.

The only goal of the game in front of a crowd of 1,017 came from Nicky Boshell after 26 minutes.

Brackley Town are third, but lost more ground after being held to a goalless draw at St James`s Park by Oxford City, who are now eighth.

FC Halifax Town improved their play-off hopes and dented visiting Gainsborough Trinity`s by beating them 3-1 at The Shay.

Greg Wilkinson gave the Shaymen a great start by putting them in front after 7 minutes, but Trinity equalised through a Liam Hogan own goal 7 minutes later.

Lee Gregory restored the home side`s lead immediately after half-time and then Ryan Toulson made sure with a third just past the hour-mark in front of 1,515 fans.

Worcester City`s top five hopes took a blow when on-loan Danny Andrew gave neighbours Gloucester City all three points at St George`s Lane.

Andrew`s goal came 6 minutes before the break in front of a crowd of 1,290.

Dior Angus` 53rd minute effort secured an important victory for Solihull Moors against basement side Hinckley United, who played for 73 minutes with ten-men after Ben Richards-Everton had been dismissed.

Histon also gained three vital points at the bottom end of the table by beating Bishop`s Stortford 2-0 at the Glassworld Stadium.

Lewis Taaffe broke the deadlock by giving the Stutes a 56th minute lead that Nick Freeman eventually doubled in injury-time.

Ashley Stott rescued what could prove to be a vital point for ten-man Vauxhall Motors at Rivacre Road against Colwyn Bay.

The visitors led through Luke Holden`s early 7th minute effort and then Motors` new signing Obi Onorou was sent-off on the hour-mark.

But Stott popped up with a stoppage time leveller for the home side.

Boston United took the lead at the Jakeman`s Stadium against Corby Town 4 minutes after half-time.

But the Steelmen bounced back quickly to equalise within 3 minutes through Sam Ives to ensure Graham Drury`s old side held on for a point against his new one.

And an entertaining derby at Bower Fold saw Stalybridge Celtic and Altrincham share the Christmas spoils.

Alty got off to a dreadful start when a through ball got Jack Laird free and he finished well after just 43 seconds.

Duncan Watmore equalised with a fine solo goal after 22 minutes and he put Alty ahead 7 minutes into the second half following a corner. But Celtic equalised in the 61st minute when Laird headed home a right-wing cross.
