Bootle Lose to Everton on Penalties

....of the Liverpool Senior Cup at the semi-final stage after a 6-5 penalty shoot-out defeat to Everton`s second string on Thursday night.

In front of a crowd of 643 at the New Bucks Park, Anthony Miley gave the home side a 36th minute lead that Hallam Hope eventually cancelled out for the Barclays Premier League giants with 20 minutes remaining.

With no further goals, extra-time saw Ryan Higgins come close to edging Everton ahead early on but the hosts, clearly still fancying their chances of causing an upset, forced a frantic goalmouth scramble as the game neared the halfway point of the added 30 minutes.

Both sides successfully converted their first five penalties but after Matty Pennington had put the Blues 6-5 up, Ryan Wilkinson failed to convert and it is Everton who will go on to the final.
