The pass and move football that is boss Faulconbridge’s mantra gave way to a more cautious approach against a team that plays a division higher than their hosts.
But Faulconbridge says he has been more than happy with the progression of his players and confirmed he is on the verge of signing an experienced defender.
“We’ve been equal to, if not better than, teams higher than us – for 90 minutes against Maidenhead United and 60 against Hemel Hempstead Town,” he said.
“In the Bedford game, it was something we needed. We needed to see what can happen in a game when things don’t go the way we want them to.
“We’re all pulling in the same direction and we still have a couple of weeks to go and I’m excited by what I’ve seen, our ball retention has been excellent at times,” he added.
