Boss Leaves Cullompton for Barnstaple

.....after Saturday's 4-2 Carlsberg South West Peninsula League Premier Division defeat at Penzance.

Buckingham will be taking charge of Toolstation Western League Premier Division outfit Barnstaple Town with immediate effect.

Cullompton secretary Marcus Scott said: "I was unaware that Pete had been in discussions with another club and it came as a total shock to me."

Penzance supporters were in fine fettle after watching their side end a run of thirteen winless games. A combination of superb goalkeeping by Scott Halliday plus clinical finishing gave the home side a big boost, as the victory ensured that they moved out of the bottom two and finished seventeenth.

Gary Wills gave the hosts the lead with an unstoppable 30-yard free-kick into the top corner. Penzance extended their advantage 5 minutes after the break when Tom Putterill and Liam Andrew combined to set up Harry Corin, whose right-foot volley found the bottom left corner.

Cullompton reduced the arrears when Alex Greening rifled a shot into the bottom corner 20 minutes from time.

Corin scored his second, with Wills following suit from the penalty spot before Brett Worbey converted a late spot-kick for the visitors.
