.....season may have looked fairly emphatic, but manager Carl Williams is reminding his team, and the Canaries' supporters, that there is a long way to go and that the road will become tougher in the coming days. Williams warned that Redditch are a team that has been reconstructed in the summer and will take time to gel.
"Yes, we did well to win 3-0, but I believe we will have some very difficult hurdles in the next week or two and then we can judge our team. One win does not make a season," he says. But he was pleased with the way Hitchin took Redditch on and worked incredibly hard in very hot conditions. "The new lads did well and it was very good to see Luke Gregson looking so sharp. We've obviously missed Ieuan Lewis and John Frendo, but Daniel Delderfield, Daniel Webb, Kyle Lincoln and Jack Beckett all took their chances." Williams will be without Lewis for a further two weeks owing to a knee injury and Stewart King, who pulled up in the pre-match warm-up and had to be withdrawn from the team sheet, may have a recurrence of an old problem.
