Brighton `Legend` Joins Peacehaven
Kerry Mayo

....Brighton favourite Kerry Mayo as assistant-manager.

Mayo won two championship medals with Brighton in 2001 and 2002 after signing for the club back in 1996.

The 34-year-old, who made more than 350 appearances for the Seagulls, came out of retirement to sign for the Sussex County League Division Three side Newhaven in November 2010 and marked his first appearance with a goal in Saturday’s 4-2 win at Pease Pottage.

In May 2008 it was confirmed that Mayo had been released from the club by then manager Dean Wilkins. But he signed a new contract after impressing during pre-season under new manager Micky Adams.

In September 2008 Mayo joined then Conference Premier side team Lewes on loan for a month but suffered cruciate knee ligament damage whilst at the Dripping Pan.

It was announced in May 2009, that Mayo would be leaving Brighton after the expiry of his contract and he announced his retirement from professional football after failing to recover from a groin injury.
