Brown, who has just turned 27, started his career at Tranmere Rovers and has also had spells at Barrow AFC, Witton Albion and Vauxhall Motors.

Meanwhile, midfielder Dave Roberts has left the club.

He signed for the Mariners in July 2011 from Southport where he had a brief spell.

He was with league rivals Burscough for the majority of last season.
