....April”, was AFC Sudbury manager Chris Tracey’s brief summing up of their opening 3-1 defeat in the Ryman League Division One North at home to Cheshunt on Saturday.

“We gave away a sloppy first goal and the third one came as we were chasing the game, so it looks worse than it was. We changed our system and went for when we were two down and if we had scored earlier I think we would have got something”, Tracey said.

“The boys will pick themselves up and we go to Maldon & Tiptree on Tuesday with a good spirit and wanting to put things right.”

Tracey was able to report that experienced striker David Bryant, last season with Braintree Town and previously with Boreham Wood and Thurrock, had signed on for the club and is likely to take some part in the Maldon fixture.
