A product of the Exeter youth set-up, Nichols has made twenty first-team appearances for the Grecians and spent part of last season on loan with Conference South side Dorchester Town.

He arrives at Edgar Street after impressing Bulls boss Martin Foyle during Exeter's friendly on Tuesday evening against Chippenham Town in which Nichols grabbed a brace.

Foyle said: "I'm pleased we've managed to bring Tom in, he impressed me on Tuesday and he has a lot of promising attributes."

"I'm looking forward to working with him."

Sammons, 20, had been on Birmingham`s books since the age of nine but after signing a professional contract in 2008 and making three appearances for the England under-17`s, he was released at the end of last season without playing a senior game for the Blues.
