Butters Leaves City for Brighton
Guy Butters

.....has left to further his coaching career with npower Championship high-flyers Brighton.

Chairman Paul McCarthy only has praise for the departing manager: "I would like to thank Guy for all his hard work, he is a terrific leader and we would like to wish him all the best for the future."

Butters had got the team playing attractive and exciting football as he led the club to win the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) Premier Division title with an impressive 104 points, scoring an incredible 138 league goals.

As an ex-defender he always made sure that the defence were pulling its weight and last season they only conceded thirty-nine goals, less than one goal a game.

McCarthy added: "We were lucky to have someone of Guy's calibre at the club. It's not many clubs at this level who are fortunate enough to have a manager who has played at the top level for clubs like Spurs and Portsmouth.

"Having spoken to Gus Poyet at Brighton, we've been told that Guy has a very exciting future ahead and is getting more involved with the set-up at the AMEX stadium."

The Citizens are just one point outside the play-offs and six off the top, the club are pleased to announce that James Taylor is going to be taking over as the new manager.

Taylor is very experienced at this level and will be looking to take the club forward and continue Butters` good work.
